Lahore: Pakistan’s former wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider has said that Akmal brothers (Kamran Akmal and Umar Akmal) were involved in removing former Captain Shahid Afridi.
Talking to a private television Geo News on Monday, he said that both the brothers played politics and hatched conspiracies to keep each other in the national side.
Haider alleged that former coach Waqar Younis was also part of the players’ lobby. He thanked former federal minister for sports Ejaz Jakhrani for providing an opportunity in the national squad.
Haider said several Pakistani players kept roaming with Mazhar Majeed.
Former minister Ejaz Jhakrani told the TV that he was approached by the former wicketkeeper who requested him to support him. Jakhrani said that he asked the then PCB chairman to provide Haider with an opportunity if he was good enough.
