Lahore: A district and session judge on Saturday reserved verdict on the acquittal plea of Moonis ELahi, the son of senior federal minister and PML-Q leader Pervez Elahi, in the multi billion National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam case.
Elahi was produced before the court amid tight security. On Saturday, Elahi’s lawyer completed his arguments on the plea to acquit his client in the case.
He argued that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had no evidence or witness against Elahi, therefore he be acquitted. FIA counsel contended that Moonis Elahi committed fraud through fake bank account and was involved in the scam. The counsel also argued that the manager of Elahi’s company, Muhammad Malick, had also confessed to have opened the fake banks’ accounts on his instruction, wherein the NICL scam money were deposited.
After the hearing arguments of defence and prosecution’s lawyers, the judge reserved verdict in the case, which would be announced on Oct 21.
