Lahore: Pakistan Railways on Wednesday demanded Rs 1 billion from the government to pay salaries and pensions.
The government has paid only Rs 500 million, insufficient to meet the needs.
Railways authorities say they are in need of Rs 4 billion every month to run the system but the government is paying only Rs 2 billion per month.
They say that if Railways is provided with financial aid for four months consecutively, it will become independent.
Railways officials also said that the PSO has provided them 0.3 million litre oil and they are in touch with the PSO for further supplies.
