Islamabad: Inquiry into the school bus accident occurred last month at Kallar Kahar has been completed, and three officials of Motorway Police found guilty were suspended.
This was told by Federal Minister for Communication Arbab Alamgir to the National Assembly here on Tuesday. He said that the officials, which were suspended include DSP, Inspector and Photographer of National Highways and Motorways Police. These officials allowed the bus to go, ignoring over-loading.
The minister said the inquiry report revealed that the bus was 30-year old as it was manufactured in 1981. At the time of accident there were 112 students and teachers of a school were on board, whereas the bus had seating capacity of 57 passengers only. He said that although the driver had the licence to drive heavy transport vehicle (HTV) but the bus had the route to ply between Faisalabad and Sialkot, which did not allow it to travel in the Salt Ranges.
The Speaker National Assembly had instructed the communication minister to present the complete inquiry report in the house so that preventive measures may be taken to prevent such accidents in future.
