Islamabad: Pakistan’s Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar has said that Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) would be dissolved within 10 to 15 days.
During the National Assembly session on Monday, Qamar said that the issue of power load shedding had been resolved and the demand and supply gap had become zero.
He said the government had started long- and short-term power projects. The minister said that the recent shortfall in electricity occurred because of floods in Sindh, which badly affected the hydro power generation.
The PML-N leader Sardar Mehtab Abbasi proposed that a parliamentary committee comprising members from all parties should be formed to deal with the energy crisis.
On this, the minister said that the government would support any plan including the constitution of a committee.
