New York: Pakistan Foreign Minister Hinar Rabbani Khar has said that close allies should not blame each other because objectives can only get through mutual understanding.
Speaking to the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, she said Pakistan does not believe on unilateral operations and Islamabad does not believes on oppression.
She said elimination of terrorism from the regions is in our interest. Pakistan lost governor and federal minister in the war against terrorism.
She stated that Pakistan has lost over 35,000 people in the war against terror., adding that, Pakistan’s great leader and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was also victim of the terrorism.
Despite all these losses of lives we are still committed to overcome terrorism. She said Pakistan is willing to strengthen democracy in the country under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
She was of the view that Pakistan and India has already started political discussion and it was a good for both the countries.
She also said that UN resolutions should be fully abided by.
Presenting Pakistan’s stance regarding Kashmir – the disputed valley between Pakistan and India – she said human rights violations should be ended and Kashmir issue should be resolve under UN resolutions. She said Pakistan would be a contestant for the membership of Security Council.
She also said that Pakistan fully supports the rights of Palestinian people. She also appreciated the move by Palestinian Authority President Mahmood Abbas for presenting the issue of independent Palestinian State in the United Nations.
Pakistan kills several al Qaeda leader, she said, added that, Pakistan was fully performing its responsibilities. She also said that Pakistan was also part of international coalition force and wants complete end of terrorism.
Highlighting the problems caused by recent floods in Pakistan, Khar said Pakistani people were surviving worst days of their lives and looking at international community.
