Rawalpindi: Former Pakistan’s information minister and the President of Awami Muslim League (AML), Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said that the ground or air aggression against Pakistan by the United States will endanger the world peace.
Sheikh Rashid said that the Pak-US relations were strained since March-April and further aggravated after the May 2 Abbottabad operation. He said if the US tried any violence against Pakistan, it would fulfil the motives of Al-Qaeda as the people of Pakistan would mentally bow before the militants.
About the meeting between ISI chief General Shuja Pasha and the US General Mike Mullen, Sheikh Rashid said it seemed that the meeting was not fruitful as it could not lessen the tension between the two countries. He said that the Pakistan government should seriously take the statement of Mike Mullen. He said that Pakistan Army would decide about the launch of operation in any area of the country. He said the US has no knowledge about the ground reality.
The AML President said the time has come that Pakistan review its foreign policy, adding, “We are not only for rendering sacrifices and taking dictations.” He said army is only the precious asset of Pakistan but last the last hope of the country’s people.
To another question, Sheikh Rashid said that the US had no information of ground reality in Afghanistan and Iraq.
