Peshawer: Six new polio cases have been recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, its health minister said on Saturday. Syed Zahir Shah said that the provincial government is trying to eliminate polio from the province by the end of this calendar year. He said people remain opposed to polio vaccination in some areas and that cooperation of ulema is being sought in this regard.
Polio vaccination remains a herculean task in some areas of Pakistan, where people have been made to believe that these campaigns are actually aimed at reducing the sexual potency of Muslim men so that the Muslim population could be reduced.
