Lahore: Giving India the Most Favorite Nation (MFN) status would be a serious blunder, says Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch, on Sunday.
In his reaction to the news reports on this score, he said that for the last 63 years, India had been fanning terrorism in the region and creating hatred and bias against its neighbors, India’s expansionist designs were a threat to the regional peace.
He said there was concrete evidence regarding India’s hand behind subversive activities in Baluchistan, Karachi and on Pakistan’s western border. Accepting India as MFN despite all this would be extending blind support to New Delhi for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council.
Baloch counseled the government not to surrender vital national interests under the US pressure. He said such a decision would be another serious shock to the nation after the PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif’s stance regarding India at a recent seminar.
He said that before taking such a decision, the rulers would have to explain the nation if New Delhi had ever accepted any international or Pakistani proposal for resolving the Kashmir issue. Why was India sabotaging every bilateral talk with this country? What securities would the Pakistani industry gain from such a declaration? Won’t India flood the Pakistani market with its products as in Bangladesh with some hidden motives and what safeguards did the Pakistani government have against that?
