Karachi: Nine more people lost lives in violence in Karachi, the same day when the ruling Pakistan People’s Party was holding talks with Muttahida Qaumi Movement on partial restoration of the local bodies system introduced by the Musharraf regime.
Three people including a child were killed in the exchange of fire between workers of MQM and Awami National Party near Frontier Morr of Qasba Colony.
Intense firing between two groups continues in Landhi. This area has been tense because of confrontation between the two groups for more than a week.
Two bodies in gunny bags were found in North Nazimabad near Ziauddin Hospital and Pak Colony.
Aqil and Muslim were shot dead in the limits of Malir City police station.
Syed Muntazir Zaidi, manager of a Bank Al Habib branch, was killed in the City Station parking area.
Sabz Ali was killed in firing at a restaurant in the limits of SITE A police station.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik, while talking to businessmen during the day, said action would be taken against those “creating disturbance in the city today (Saturday)”.
The violence in Karachi has intensified once again at a time when PPP is trying to woo back its former coalition partner MQM by offering to restore the 2001 local bodies system. The talks between the two parties have reached a successful conclusion, The News Tribe correspondent reported.
