The first of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia will fall on Monday because the new moon was not sighted on Saturday, officials announced. An Arab TV reported that a committee of Saudi ulema met in a meeting which lasted till late after sunset but no report of moon sighting was received from anywhere in the country.
In Pakistan, a meeting of the Central Moon Sighting Committee has been convened on Monday in Karachi. Four zonal committees will help the central body.
Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Riaz has said that there are chances of moon sighting in Balochistan as well as southern parts of Sindh. But the central committee will take the decision on the basis of reports received by it.
