Islamabad: PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafiq has said in National Assembly that Babar Awan through Ministry of Interior is unlawfully exercising his influence on the cases against Anjum Aqeel Khan.
He said that on the issue of conflict between MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan and National Police Foundation, the verdict and decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan would be accepted from the core of the heart.
He added that the act of getting the MNA released forcibly from the custody of police was a shameful act and the membership of the party office bearers responsible for this act has been suspended, while show-cause has already been issued to Anjum Aqeel by the party.
He was expressing his views in National Assembly on a point of order on Friday wherein he presented party position and stand on the issue of the arrest of PML-N MNA.
He added that Anjum Aqeel handed himself over to the police on the direction of the party and by his willingness, but Islamabad police was distorting facts in this respect. He further said that a joint parliamentary committee be constituted for the investigation issues of inclusion of sections of terrorism law in the case against Anjum Aqeel and on the issue of infringing and damaging the sanctity of Chader, Chardewari and house of the Anjum Aqeel by the police.
Saad Rafiq further said that the FIA investigation team and Islamabad police cannot be trusted upon for investigation of the cases against Anjum Aqeel Khan.
