London: Everyone would seem to be aware of the effect that a full moon has on the sea.
But a new research shows that the decreasing size of the moon makes animals more ferocious in their attacks.
The research has shown that lion and other animals attack humans more, once the moon starts decreasing in size after its full setting. Particularly at the start of the declining size of the moon, the animals are at their worst.
For this investigation, 500 attacks of lions were monitored in Africa. It was observed that two-thirds of the attacks took place after the sun had set till 10 pm. At the time of these attacks the size of the moon was decreasing and the there was almost no moonlight.
The research proved that small size of the moon makes the lions more dangerous and keeps them hungry during full moon.
According to the investigation, intensity of lion attacks increase during the rainy season as the moon remains hidden under the clouds during this period.
