Islamabad: The urban areas are faced with load shedding of up to 12 hours while the rural areas 15 hours daily.
Short fall in electricity has reached 5,784MW due to decrease in IPPs production, thus causing an increase of 1,300MW.PEPCO authorities state that the current electricity demand is 18,591 megawatts while production remains at 12,807 megawatts.
Shortage of oil and gas load shedding has caused IPPs production to fall by to 5,544MW.
Hydel resources are providing 5,175MW, thermal 1,944 MW and rental power plants 144 MW to the country.
The increase in load shedding has prompted angry protests in various parts of the country.
