Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday directed police not to arrest Afaq Ahmed, chairman of Mohajir Qaumi Movement – Haqiqi, in any fresh case without its prior approval.
SHC issued the directives during a hearing of a plea filed by Afaq Ahmed’s lawyer. Afaq’s counsel submitted that he been languishing in jail since April 2004 in multiple politically-motivated cases. He further stated that police were not providing information regarding the cases.
On the court’s order, Karachi police presented a report regarding Ahmed’s cases in the Sindh High Court.
