Rawalpindi: Pakistan Army has said that it had recorded strong reservation over the removal of NATO check-posts from Kunar and Nuristan provinces of Afghanistan, bordering Pakistan.
Director General, Inter Services Public Relation, Major General Athar Abbas on Thursday said in a statement that Kunar and Nuristan provinces of the war ravaged Afghanistan were the strongholds of Pakistani Taliban. The Taliban were He said they were involved in the cross-border attacks inside Pakistan.
He informed that on June 01, at least 60 militants of Tehrik-e-Taliban Swat breached into Pakistan’s northern areas, and they ambushed levies and police check-posts.
They also held the local people hostage near the police check-posts, he said, added that, the militants also set six primary schools on fire.
The DG ISPR stated that Fazlullah, Faqeer Mohammed, Abdul Wali and Hakimullah have made their safe dens.
He said that there were 900 check-posts in these areas where some 147,000 personnel were stationed.
