Islamabad:The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday ordered the government to withdraw suspension orders of Additional Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Zafar Qureshi.
The court also ordered that the transfers of four FIA officials, probing the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam, be cancelled.
Earlier, Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq submitted reply over the suspension of Qurshi in the court.
An SC bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case. The bench also directed that no departmental action be taken until the court decided the NICL scam case.
During the hearing the CJ remarked the government was creating hurdles for the apex court as the suspension of Zafar Qureshi was tantamount to undermine the court.
The CJ while referring the news published in local newspapers, said decision of Qureshi was taken in the presence of the prime minister, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and others. He added that according to the news items Interior Minister had given four options to the FIA officer, including, to leave the country or demanding guarantee for Moonis Elahi.
He asked AG to tell the government that the institutions could not be run as being run by the government.
Later the hearing was adjourned till July 13.
