Peshawar: A newly launched military operation in the Kurram tribal region near Afghan border has caused a massive displacement as large number of people started fleeing the area.
According to reports The Fata Disaster Management Authority has set up two registration centres where displaced families have been enrolled. According to official estimates, over 4,000 families are likely to flee their homes because of the military operation.Sources said Pakistan Army launched a full fledged military offensive against the militants in Kurram agecy, adjacent to Tora Bora, a strong hold of al-Qaeda.
The sources said that troops were dropped from helicopters, backed by army, paramilitary forces and the Pakistan Air Force in Manatno and Zaimukhet areas of the restive valley.
