Muzaffarabad: Violence and brawls between rival groups marred voting in elections for Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly’s 38 seats, wherein two people were killed and about two dozen were injured.
The polling has completed and counting of votes is underway.
The polling in three constituencies for Kashmiris in Pakistan had been postponed on Saturday because of security concerns and in the wake of allegations about registration of bogus voters. Polling in LA-37 Lahore was cancelled by Chief Election Commissioner around noontime as violence and brawls between PML-N and PPP workers marred the process.
A man was killed in a firing incident at a polling station in LA-25 Muzaffarabad. Another was killed in Bhimber in an armed clash between two groups. Elections in Kashmiri constituencies in Pakistan were marred by clashes between rival groups, mainly PPP and PML-N.
