Lahore: India has released five Pakistani fishermen after three months of their detention in a Mumbai jail.
The freed fishermen were identified as Laal Baksh Lahuti, Farhad, Aurangzaib, Sajjad Ali and Muhammad Umar, were arrested by the Indian Navy and handed over to the Mumbai Police about three months ago.
Ansar Burney, renowned Pakistani social worker, said that he contacted Indian authorities to release the fishermen and on the intervention of Chief Minister Maharashtra all the fishermen were freed.
The recently released fishermen would reach their country on Monday, he added.
