Brasilia: Brazil’s legendary footballer Ronaldo, who had retired from international football in February, will play his farewell match against Romania.
Brazil and Romania trained at the Pacaembu stadium, where the friendly match will be held. Former world player of the Year Ronaldo trained with the team after being honored ahead of his official farewell. The Brazilian Football Confederation will pay tribute to Ronaldo by halftime of Tuesday night game.
The 34-year-old player retired from football in February after an 18-year career. He played four world cups, during which he scored a record 15 goals. Brazil are warming up for the Copa America in Argentina in July.
Since Menezes replaced Dunga as coach after the World Cup, Brazil had beaten the United States, Iran , Ukraine and Scotland but lost to major opponents Argentina and France. Saturday’s match was Menezes home debut.
