Lahore: Unscheduled load shedding continues across the country despite decrease in shortfall. Scorching heat forced the citizens to protest.
Prolonged outage has been reported in upper and lower parts of the provinces. In urban areas the load shedding continuous up to six to eight hours while in the rural areas the load shedding of 13 to 15 hours continuous.
The citizens are facing immense problems due to 12-hour load shedding in most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa including Peshawar.
According to PESCO, currently the shortfall is 240 MW while the main reason for the load shedding is the fault in main power supply line from Tarbela that was blown away.
In Balochistan, load shedding continues up to 16 hours in several areas.
According to QESCO sources, 4 to 6-hour load shedding continues in Quetta including 8 to 12 hours in district headquarter and 12 to 16 hours in the rural areas.
A shutter down strike was observed and a protest rally was taken out against prolonged load shedding in Sibi on the call of Balochistan National Party (Awami).
The protest rally and shutter down strike were also held in Dera Murad Jamali. All the business centers remained closed. The protesters staged a sit-in near the Deputy Commissioner Office.
The residents of Basti Panwar of Dera Ghazi Khan also protested against the prolonged load shedding.
