Washington: The United States has handed over a list of five militant Islamic leaders to Pakistan, and expected to provide intelligence about immediately and possibly target in joint operations.
According to US and Pakistani officials, the list includes Osama bin Laden deputy Ayman al Zawahiri and Taliban commander Mullah Omar, ABC News reported.
The other three are Siraj-uddin Haqqani, the operational commander of the Haqqani network, believed to be run out of the Pakistani tribal areas; Ilyas Kashmiri, a senior al Qaeda member once dubbed “the next Osama bin Laden”; and Atiya Abdel Rahman, the Libyan operations chief of al Qaeda who had emerged as a key intermediary between Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda’s affiliate networks across the world.
The list was handed over to Pakistani officials during the visit of Secretary of State and Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Admiral Mike Mullen.
