Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Friday issued show-cause notices to Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Malik Iqbal and two other officials Hussain Asghar and Javed Bukhari who have been probing Haj corruption scandal.
A larger bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case.
During the hearing the bench observed that the DG FIA was responsible for transferring FIA official whose performance was satisfactory in the Haj corruption case. “The DG interfered in the court affairs” The CJ observed. “Does he deserve DG FIA post” he remarked.
Justice Sair Ali remarked that the DG FIA transferred the officials as names of bigwigs were feared to be disclosed.
On this the FIA contended that the two officials were transferred on their own will as they expressed their reluctance to probe Haj scam case.
The court issued show-cause notices to DG FIA, Javed Bukhari and Hussain Asghar and put off the hearing till May 27.
