Islamabad: Pakistan summoned US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter to foreign office and lodged a strong protest against unilateral operation in Abbottabad that led to killing of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.
On the other hand US Embassy said that the US ambassador called on Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir
The Embassy said Munter was not summoned in protest and no letter of protest was handed over to him.It said that Munter called on Pakistani foreign secretary to discuss situation in connection with Abbottabad operation.
The ties between both the countries entered into a difficult phase on May 02 after US Navy Seals stormed into Osama’s compound in Abbottabad and took him away.
Pakistan has been facing severe criticism form the US over the presence of al-Qaeda chief in its territory.
