Washington: Osama bin Laden’s hideout in Pakistan has raised serious questions about why the Pakistan had not found Al Qaeda leader, said United States House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer.
Hoyer on Tuesday suggested Congress might need to think again the billions of US dollar aid to Pakistan.
“I think the Pakistanis have motivation that terrorists do not reside in their country,” Hoyer said. “If we do not get a positive response I think it will reduce Congress’ willingness to help Pakistan.”
“I think it raises serious questions that this compound, where Osama Bin Laden was hideaway, was a mile away from Pakistan Military Academy Kakul,” Hoyer said. “One would wonder how it is possible that Bin Laden would be hidden there.”
He said the raid, which resulted in the death of Bin Laden, should motivate Pakistan to search and kick out terrorists living in the country.
Meanwhile, Speaker Congress John Boehner said US should continue assisting Pakistan.
