Washington:CIA Chief Leon Panetta said that Pakistan’s role in Osama bin Laden’s whereabouts was troubling.
Panetta in a briefing told Congress members “either they were involved or incompetent. Neither place is a good place to be.”
CNN reported that he made clear that he and other administration officials are trying to get to the bottom of which it was -involvement or incompetence.
Panetta said operation to get Osama was hugely beneficial to the US.
Panetta told the lawmakers that the operation was of “great benefit” to the United States adding that Al Qaeda remains a serious threat to the country and its allies across the world.
He further told lawmakers that it would not be in the United States’ best interests to retaliate against Pakistan over bin Laden’s apparent longtime residence in that country following the 9/11 attacks.
