Karachi: Pakistan got the chair of World Forum of Fisher People (WFFP), an international organization of fishermen.
Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum Chairman Mohammed Ali Shah was elected unanimously as the Secretary General WFFP for the next three years.
He was selected through a poll, held amid the concluding session of fifth general assembly of the forum at a local hotel in the Karachi, Southern city of Pakistan.
The assembly has also decided to shift the WFFP secretariat from Sri Lanka to Pakistan.
The next session would be held in South Africa in 2013.

Mohammed Ali Shah, Chairperson Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) as Secretary General for the next three years. Other office-bearers include two coordinators Sherry Pictou from Canada and Naseegh Jaffar Mogamad from South Africa and Treasurer Natalia Laino Lojo from Spain. Two members from each continent were selected on the coordination committee.
Newly selected Secretary General Mohammed Ali Shah said in fact it was difficult task he has been assigned he will do his best to strengthen further the WFFP and continue fighting for the rights of the small scale fisher people.
