Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that he has never talked about making Karachi a separate province.
Talking to reporters on Monday the chief minister said that he was asked in Dera Ghazi Khan whether demand of new provinces in Punjab would be met or not and he replied in a interrogative way whether Karachi would be made a province or not. “I was misquoted” he added.
Sharif said that the PML-N had never opposed establishing new provinces but there should not be any “match fixing”.
Sharif’s statement that he issued on Sunday drawn harsh criticism form the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (ANP) and the Awami National Party (ANP)
