Washington: Pakistani Ambassador to Washington Hussan Haqqani said the United States government has assured Pakistan that no decision would be taken regarding Afghan policy without taking Pakistan into confidence.
While talking to media persons in Washington Haqqani said Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir would hold meetings with Obama administration, United States representatives for South Asian countries and American think tanks.
He said Pakistan would try to resolve the issues with the US instead of provoking anti-America sentiments. He said next round of Pak-US ministers would be held in Islamabad next month, while Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari would visit the US but date of his visit has not confirmed yet.
He said both the countries have resolved the issue that occurred after the arrest of Raymond Davis, a CIA contractor who shot dead two Pakistanis in Lahore on January 27, and both the governments of Pakistan and the US are willing to promote bilateral ties.
He said the US Senator’s visit to Pakistan was successful, and it is expected that the US President Barack Obama would visit Pakistan in this year.
