Islamabad: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday will visit Afghanistan along with Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kiani and Director General Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Ahmed Shuja Pasha , sources said on Friday.
The sources said that Gilani in his first ever visit accompanying top military brass, to Kabul, would finalised arrangements for the upcoming strategic dialogues between both the countries.
They said that, Defence ,Interior, finance ministers and foreign state minister would also be among the PM’s delegation, adding that issues of Afghan refugees and terrorism would came under discussion.
The sources said that foreign and interior level groups would be formed between the countries, adding that interior and foreign secretaries would be included in the foreign secretaries Group.
The visit is being paid on the occasion when according to media reports, the US has reused to halt its secret missions and drone attacks in Pakistan. The DG ISI visited Washington this week and met CIA chief Leon Panetta, urging him to stop drone attacks in northwest Pakistan’s tribal region near Afghan border, as the attacks have been creating problems for the Pakistan’s military and the government as well.
However, the media reports said that the CIA head, rejecting Pasha’s request said that he had been assigned to protect his country and the CIA would not halt its operations in Pakistan.
US-Pakistan intelligence operations were suspended after a CIA contractor Raymond Davis shot dead two Pakistanis in Lahore on Jan 28, triggering diplomatic row between both the countries.
