Lahore: Travelling ban on Pakistani pacer Mohammad Asif has been finished, source said on Monday late night.
Mohammad Asif had been banned travelling to UAE for three years after opium was recovered from his luggage while he was returning Pakistan from India after participating in Indian Premier League in June 2008.
He was captured at Dubai Airport and was held in 19 days prison at Dubai. Later, Dubai officials deported him after the efforts of then Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Naseem Ashraf. Asif would receive notification within two or three day in regard with the issue, the officials added.
Dubai officials have also confirmed that three-years ban on Mohammad Asif has been completed and now he could travel Dubai. PCB officials have also been informed regarding the issue.
The source said Mohammad Asif expressed greetings over the finishing of three year ban and said, “He is happy and can represent Pakistan again in Dubai.”
