Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to recover money from those who performed Haj on the government expenses within three days and submit the report till next Friday.
A larger bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the Haj scam case. Justice Chaudhry observed that people would be sent to jail who performed “free Haj”.
The CJ directed the FIA to take action against those who misappropriated money through Haj scam.
The CJ asked the secretary health as to why names of journalists were included in the lists of those persons who performed “free Haj” while the journalist says that they performed Haj on their own expenses.
He observed that names of those people have also been included in the list who performed Haj on their own expenses. The CJ directed that list of the people, from whom money has to be recovered, be provided to the court.
