Karachi: Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has once again indicated to sack around 4,000 employees, waiting for suitable time, KESC spokesman said on Wednesday evening.
The spokesman said that it has been decided that 4,000 non-technical staff including bill distributers, sanitary workers, security guards and drivers. KESC has submitted its application regarding Volunteer Separation Scheme (VSS) of five billion and 450 million in the Sindh High Court. Â KESC officials are waiting for suitable time, the spokesman added.
Earlier, KESC had taken the same decision of dismissing over 4,000 non productive employees in January but before discharging KESC had offered them to resign through VSS which was categorically rejected by KESC employees. But after severe political pressure KESC had withdrawn the decision.
The KESC spokesman said each discharged employees would be given minimum 0.7 million and maximum 4.5 million through VSS.
On the other hand, Labour Union KESC has also filed a petition in Sindh High Court against the proposed decision of KESC to save the future of workers and their families.
