Washington: Pantagon spokesman has said that allied military forces are getting its position stronger in operation against Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi forces and his allies.
The spokesman Vice Admiral William Gortney while briefing about Libya mission has said that situation in Libya was positively changing because of successful operations of coalition forces. Particular places are being targeted in Libya, he added.
Gortney stated that 199 Tomahawk missiles have been fired so far on Libya territory. He said 178 flights have been carried out over Libya within last 24 hours.
He informed that America, France, Canada and Belgium participated in the last 24 hours operation against Gaddafi forces.He said there were no report civilian causality in the allied forces air strikes.
He said coalition air strikes are continued in central and western Libya to counter Gaddafi forces and its allies. Pressure on Gaddafi would be continued, he stated.
The Pantagon spokesman said fight between Gaddafi forces and rebels were also continued in Misurata. Allied forces are not in contact with opposition leaders on Libya, he added.
He also said that 12 fighter planes of United Arab Emirates would be used within 24 hours in the operation.
William Gortney stated that one US submarine has been removed from the operation.
On the other hand Libyan officials said that public places and civilians are being targeted in coalition air strikes in which over hundred people most of them youth have been killed.
