Riyadh: Saudi Shah Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz would address his nation on Friday, a state run news agency said.
The royal palace in a statement said the king would “speak (today) Friday to citizens at 2:00 pm (local time) and issue a number of orders,” without giving details.
At the start of March, a Saudi official told an imminent cabinet reshuffle at a time when calls have been aired on the internet for political reform in the kingdom, AFP reported.
The current cabinet took office in March 2007 for a four-year term.
On Monday, armed forces from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates rolled into neighbouring Bahrain to help the government in Manama deal with pro-democracy protesters.
Saudi Arabia’s minority Shiites demonstrated in a number of cities in the kingdom’s Eastern Province on Wednesday in protest at a violent crackdown on Shiite-led protesters in Bahrain the previous day that left five people dead including one Pakistanis.
