Islamabad: Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday observed that national wealth should be brought back to the national exchequer.
The remarks came during the hearing of sou motu case pertaining to Rs54 billion written-off loans by the State Bank of Pakistan.
A four-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Muhammad Sair Ali, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday,Was hearing the case.
The CJ remarked that no case had been registerd against loan-waivers.
The SB’s counsel Iqbal Haider told the court that the beneficiaries had not returned loans deliberately.
He further informed that Rs110 million loan was written-off to Red CO Textile.
The CJ remarked that the court did not know weather any law against defaulters existed in the country or not.
