Islamabad: A shocking 37 million entries have been detected in Pakistan’s electoral rolls, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) disclosed Wednesday.
An exercise undertaken by the NADRA showed that there were 37 million entries used for the last general elections in 2008.
NADRA had received data of 81.2 million people, out of 160 million population of Pakistan, who were eligible to vote, for verification so that it could shift to computerised electoral rolls.
The verification process revealed that 44.02 million of the entries were valid and it left a void of 37.18 million entries that were considered bogus.
As many as 15.02 million voters had been registered even though there was no identification. The official said the Election Commission has been informed about the findings.
