Colombo: Pakistan cricket team has sensationally defeated Sri Lanka while winning the match with just 11 runs in the World Cup.
Sri Lankan team has gone in deep trouble in chase of 278 runs by Pakistan, after consecutively losing 8 wickets while scoring 232 runs in 45 overs. The Lankan team started bat to chase the total as openers provided the good start.
Highest scorer by Sri Lankan side was LPC Silva who made 57 runs while, Sangakkara scored 49 off 61 balls.
Afridi took four wickets against 34 runs. Abdul Rehman was a little expensive who took, while Akhtar could gain two wickets.
The match was memorable for Green shirt captain Shahid Afridi who crossed the number 300 wickets and got the Man of the Match award.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Thee green team scored the total of 277 runs losing 7 wickets in 50 overs.
Misbah-ul-Haq while playing impressively is the top scorer from green side who made 83 runs in just 91 balls. The second top scorer is Younis Khan, scoring 72 runs off 76 balls.
