Karachi: The Pakistani nation is celebrating Eid Milad-un-Nabi the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) today with religious fervour.
Mahafil-i-Milad and other public meetings are being held at various places across the country to celebrate the day.
The main congregation will be held at the Nishtar Park, where processions from various parts of the city will converge and the main procession will be held, which will be also addressed by religious scholars.
The main rally will be staged from the New Memon Masjid, Boultan Market, at about 3pm, which will pass through MA Jinnah Road and culminate at the Nishtar Park.
Strict security arrangements have been made to ward off any untoward incident.
5000 security officials of police and  Rangers have been deployed on the route of main procession, besides, closed circuit cameras have also been installed to keep a vigil eye on the gathering.
More than 50 people, including top leadership of Sunni Tehrik, were killed and another 100 injured when a blast exploded at Nishter Park Karachi during a congregation in 2006.
Government has announced a public holyday in the country on the occasion.
