United Nations: Pakistani Ambassador to the United Nations Abdullah Hussain Haroon has said that Pakistan supports an Afghan-led and comprehensive reconciliation process in Afghanistan to pave the way for durable peace and stability in the war-torn country, news agency reported.
Speaking at a discussion panel titled “Afghanistan: Is a Negotiated Settlement Possible?” he said that Pakistan has a stake in peaceful and stable Afghanistan
He added that Pakistan had welcomed the establishment of “the High-level Peace Council” in Afghanistan headed by former Afghan president Burhanuddin Rabbani.
Haroon reiterated that the safe return of more than 1.5 million registered Afghan refugees living in Pakistan was only possible in a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.
