Rawalpindi: Newly appointed Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan on Saturday sought media help for restoring the soft image of Pakistan in the international community.
Talking to media after offering Fateha and laying floral wreath at Benazir Bhutto Memorial at Liaquat Bagh She said the government and media should make concerted efforts to restore the soft image of the country.
Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the promotion of inter-faith harmony, grant of rights to minorities, women and the deprived classes were the top priorities of the democratic regime.
The minister said that the country was facing several problems including terrorism, unemployment, inflation and the government was striving to overcome these problems.
She appealed to the print and electronic media to play constructive role and help the government in resolution of the problems being faced by the country.
Responding a question about Pervez Musharraf’s arrest warrants by a court, she said that the matter was sub-judice but the government would assist the court whenever the court issues any direction in this regard.
