Faisalabad: Wife of Faheem, one of the two Pakistanis who were killed by an American on January 27 in Lahore, committed suicide on Sunday.
Shumaila had been living a disturbed life since her husband’s death. She consumed some poisonous substance on Sunday morning. When family members saw her in a serious condition they rushed her to Allied Hospital where she breathed her last in the evening.
Her family members said they were forced to sign a paper that said that Shumaila committed suicide owing to domestic disputes.
Relatives of Shumaila held a protest demonstration outside the hospital and chanted anti government and America slogans and demanded punishment for the killers of three Pakistanis.
Shumaila had told a Pakistani TV channel before dying, “ I need justice but no measures have yet been taken by the government of Pakistan because we are powerless”.
It is worth mentioning that Raymnd Davis, the killer of two Pakistanis, Faizan and Faheem, is facing a trial in a Pakistani court but American officials are pressurizing the government to release him, claiming that he is a diplomat and has immunity from prosecution.
Political parties and civil society in Pakistan have demanded a free and fair trial and exemplary punishment for Davis if he is found guilty.
