Lahore: Tehrik-e-Namoos-e-Risalat (TNR) on Sunday took out a rally from Nasir Bagh to the Assembly Hall against proposed amendment in the blasphemy law.
A large number of political and religious parties’ activists and people from different walks of life joined the rally. The participants were holding banners and placards and chanting slogans. Strict security arrangements were made to avert any untoward incident.
Jamate-e-Islami Chied Syed Munwar Hassan, Jamiat Ulema-e- Islam Chief Maulana Fazl Ur Rehman, Dr Abu-ul Khair Zubair, Sajid Naqvi, Professor Sajid Mir, Hafiz Saeed, Ex Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique participated in the rally.
Speakers on the occasion harshly criticized the government and warned that any amendment in the blasphemy law would be resisted strongly.
Pervaiz Elahi said that his party would resign from the national assembly if any effort to amend the blasphemy law was made.
Saad Rafique  vowed that he would raise the issue in the current session of the national assembly, adding that the rulers should address the reservations of the TNR leaders and should assure them that it was not planning to change the blasphemy law.
Maulana Fazlur  said that the US and Western countries should shun the dual standards as they were putting ban on Scarf and Minarets in their countries and on the other hand forcing Pakistan to revoke blasphemy law.
The JI Chief Munwar Hassan said that the world has completely changed after the 9/11 incident.
