Multan: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Sunday that government had not kept mum over the firing incident in Lahore by the US official Raymond Davis.
Speaking at a meeting with the office bearers of Multan District Bar Association here he said that he would not comment on the matter as it was sub-judice and Punjab government was conducting an inquiry into the case.
He said that every politician had to face corruption allegations and were ousted on the pretext of such blames, adding that even the allegations were also leveled against chief justice of Pakistan. He lamented that neither any dictator was held responsible for corruption nor any action was taken against him. Gilani said that his cabinet members were facing cases in court of laws as it had never happened in the country.
The premier said that international economic recession and inflation, energy crises and last year’s devastative floods adversely affected the economy. He reiterated that more than 10 billion dollar losses were inflicted by the worst flood of the country’s history, adding that the government has given Rs 20,000 each flood victim.
Gilani vowed that Nawaz Sharif’s reservations would be addressed. He noted that deteriorating situation of law and order was the basic problem of the country. Replying a query the PM said that situations of Egypt and Tunis could not be compared with Pakistan.
