ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Bosnia Herzegovina in Pakistan Arman Limo said on Monday that Pakistan and Bosnia need to improve their political and economic relations to promote bilateral trade and investment as the current volume of trade is far below the respective potential of the two countries. He made these remarks while talking to President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Mahfooz Elahi here in a meeting.
The Ambassador said that both the countries have common religious and cultural relations which should be promoted to strengthen trade and economic ties.
The ambassador said that Pakistani businessmen are being invited by Bosnia to participate in 2nd International Investment Conference “Sarajevo Business Forum 2011” to be held in Sarajevo (Bosnia) on April 6-8 to explore more business opportunities.
He said that Pakistani businessmen should consider Bosnia for joint ventures in the area of common interest. “Many Pakistani products including rice, surgical instruments, sports goods and textile etc. have good potential in Bosnia and Pakistani businessmen should establish direct trade links in Bosnia to grab better market share”, he added.
The Ambassador said that Bosnia is an ideal place for the foreign investors and has a great potential for tourism as well.
Mr. Arman invited business community for trade with Bosnia and suggested to divert their business activities using Bosnia as Gate Way for exporting and capturing the European international trade markets.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahfooz Elahi said that Pakistan and Bosnia had still unexplored market for businessmen of both countries.
He said frequent exchange of business delegations and establishing direct B2B contacts were the options which should be used to exploit untapped bilateral trade and investment potential in both countries.
Elahi said that Pakistan and Bosnia had low trade volume which should further be enhanced through emphasizing on non-traditional items for the mutual benefit of the people of two countries.
He said Pakistani products including rice, sports goods, surgical instruments, pharmaceutical, leather and textile products can be exported to Bosnia and proposed that Bosnian businessmen should look into the opportunities to develop business relation in the identified areas.
The ICCI President said that the business communities of Pakistan and Bosnia have to play a vital role for promotion of bilateral trade and their greater mutual interaction is needed to achieve the ultimate objectives. He ensured full support of ICCI in emerging trade and investment activities.
