Karachi: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Sunday that a partial curfew would be imposed in some parts of the metropolis from today.
He was talking to media at the airport before leaving for Islamabad.Malik said that the target killers would not be spared at any cost, adding that some of them have been nabbed red-handed.
He reiterated that a third force was involved in the target killings, which wanted MQM, PPP and the ANP to fight with each other.
He praised the law enforcement agencies, especially police and Rangers for their performance in arresting target killers.
Sources said that a list of wanted criminals has been handed over to sensitive agencies, adding that curfew could be placed any time in the areas, where operation will be launched .
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister and Rehman Malik presided over a meeting to review law and order situation in the city, which was attended Inspector General Police(IGP )Sindh, Capital City Police Officer(CCPO) Karachi and others.
The meeting decided to ban pillion riding in certain areas of the metropolis while commandos would be landed in the affected areas to launch an operation against target killers.
It further decided that arieal surveillance would be conducted in some parts of the city.
The interior minister during the meeting said that some foreign terrorist took part in the latest wave of target killing and managed to flee from the country.
He said that strict security arrangements would be made at the Karachi airport.
Meanwhile, Awami National Party’s Sindh Chapter President Shahi Syed expressing his reservation over the operation said that his party was not taken into confidence regarding the operation. “army operation is the only solution to stop the target killing in Karachi” he added.
