Islamabad: Different political parties on Saturday submitted adjournment motions in both the houses of the parliament, seeking immediate debate on the deteriorating law and order situation in the financial capital of the country, Karachi, and the unabated targeted killings there that have bedeviled the port city for the last two years.
As the killing spree is continued unabated in the revenue engine of country, Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) on Saturday demanded military operation to restore peace and order in Karachi. The demand came from PML-Q through an adjournment motion, which the party legislators submitted in National Assembly Secretariat on Saturday.
On the other hand, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami has also submitted an adjournment motion in National Assembly, inviting the house attention toward the alarming law and order situation in the port city. The JUI legislators urged the house to debate the Karachi situation by suspending routine agenda.
The Awami National Party (ANP), which is a coalition partner of the government, has also taken the unabated targeted killings in Karachi to the upper house of the parliament. The party’s central Information Secretary Senator Zahid Khan has submitted an adjournment motion in Senate seeking the house to debate the issue.
Meanwhile, Jamat-e-Islami Leader Prof. Khurshid Ahmed also submitted an adjournment motion in Senate regarding the killing of a journalist associated with a private TV channel in Karachi, apparently in the ongoing ethnic-colored targeted killings.
Wali Khan Baber, a reporter of private Geo News TV, was murdered cold-bloodedly in a locality of Karachi on Thursday.
The JI has sought Senate to debate the murder of the journalists by suspending the routine agenda.
