Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday ordered the Techno Rental Power Company to submit Rs970 million along with markup till 12:00 pm on Friday and directed police to handcuff and seize passport of the company’s owner if the amount is not submitted within stipulated time.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the petitions against alleged corruption in Rental Power Plants project.
The court directed the company to produce a certificate in the SC after submitting the amount in the bank till 12:00 pm.
The bench expressed annoyance over the company for not complying with the SC orders, issued on Thursday, in which the court ordered those rental power companies, which have not yet executed the projects, to return the amount paid to them as advance forthwith.
The court had directed the owner of Techno Power, a company engaged in setting up a RPP at Sahiwal, to return Rs970 million received as advance.
Later, the company’s counsel Anwarul Haq prayed that the amount could not be submitted on Friday.On which, the court allowed extension til Saturday.
The passport number of the company’s owner Abid was registered with the SC.
The hearing was adjourned till January 17.
