ISLAMABAD: Pro-Islamic groups in Pakistan observed Friday as ‘the protest day’ against Pope Benedict’s statement.
On the call of Tehreek Hurmat-e-Rasool (PBUH) countrywide protests broke out against the Benedict’s statement; meanwhile the clerics of the country condemned the statement of the Pope and passed resolutions against him in the Friday prayers.
The clerics in their speeches strongly condemned the statement of Pope Benedict in which he opposed the Blasphemy law and asked the government of Pakistan to repeal the said law. They stressed the need of Blasphemy act and highlighted its importance in the society.
The activists of and Islami Tehreek Pakistan staged protests after the Friday prayed in the several cities and towns of the country.
Including the federal capital Islamabad and Rawalpindi protests were staged in Gujranwala, Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta and Muzaffarabad.
Meanwhile addressing a large gathering of at the Chowburgey Chowk, Jamaatud Dawa Amir, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed said that the Christians and Jews with the fear of defeat from Islam are doping mean acts like the blasphemy of the Holy Quran and blasphemy of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
He said that the rulers of the Islamic countries should not keep silent over these acts of Jews and Christens.
